Clint Leavitt

Writer, Pastor, Professor

I’ve loved stories from the get go. Books, movies, sports, the cartoons on the backs of cereal boxes, you name it – I’ve spent most of the three decades of my life reading, writing, and writing about them. An undergraduate degree in English literature preceded my graduate studies at Fuller Theological Seminary, where I earned a Master of Arts in Theology. My degree emphasized the intersection of theology and culture, focusing particularly on the ways that all forms of storytelling– from music to T.V., film to literature–shape our collective conscience and form the people we become.

This study and work has resulted in all that I get to do now: I pastor a local church in Phoenix, AZ, called Midtown Presbyterian Church – we focus heavily on reaching dechurched and unchurched folks who have found themselves spiritually homeless yet longing for a better story to get caught up in. I teach and develop curriculum for a multitude of courses at Grand Canyon University, from Christianity and Culture to Pentateuch, World Religions to Christianity and Media.

I also get to write about the intersection of theology and culture extensively: I’m a Tomato-Meter approved critic, writing for Loud and Clear Reviews and here on my own blog with The Leavitt Lens, and my first book, Cockroaches, God, Death, and Mangoes, releases on September 16th, 2025 – pre-orders will be available soon!

All this said, I am more than what I do for work: my lovely wife, Emily, and I have been married for 8 years, and we are expecting our first child (a little girl!) in Summer 2025. Emily and I enjoy watching movies, going on walks with our Goldendoodle Wally, traveling, sharing good meals and drinks, and hosting friends and family for all sorts of events!
